Basic Research on polymer/Si arrayed waveguide grating multiplexer at650nmIn the processing of the fiber to the home, the plastic optical fiber transmission system at650nm is one of the competitive solutions. In addition,advantages of the plastic optical fiber transmission system at650nm are very obvious in short-distance communications environment such as the aircraft, ships, etc.Compared with silica fiber, plastic optical fiber has many advantages,such as the simple manufacture, low cost, light weight and good mechanical properties. The plastic optical fiber has gradually become a research hotspot. However,PLC devices at650nm were rarely reported at home and abroad,and most research is at the1550nm.We proposed and designed and fabricated arrayed waveguide grating multiplexer at650nm,set up the waveguide device test systems,and obtained the near-field output of the device.The innovative work is as follows:(1)The AWG device at650nm was proposed and designed. We designed the single-mode waveguides at650nm,designed and optimized the main parameters of AWG,gave the16-channel AWG layout,and finally carry out the theoretical simulation.(2)The AWG device at650nm was fabricated.Using the same materia as the plastic optical fiber——PMMA, by enhancing the level of technology,we successfully fabricated the straight waveguide, curved waveguide and AWG devices at650nm,and obtained the near-field output of the devices.(3)The waveguide test system at650nm was designed. The test system with larger and adjustable magnification,is applicable to a variety of optical passive and active waveguide devices.(4)A variety of active and passive waveguide devices,such as waveguide delay line and waveguide switch,were initially realized.The above work has originality, and give full consideration to the practicality of the device. The device is designed with the common business software,and fabricated using the process compatible with semiconductor technology,which laid the foundation for the development of the various types of waveguide devices at650nm.
