In recent years, with the rapid development of network access technology and the promotion of computer hardware technology, more and more equipments have the ability of independent communication among multiple interfaces. In order to provide adequate resource for each session, the host should select an optimal interface when it communicates with other hosts. However, the communication with multi-interfaces hosts can lead to many problems, such as interface selection and routing scheduling. What’s more, the complexity of the host makes people manage and maintain the resources more and more difficult, the traditional interface management can no longer to meet the requirements of various types of traffic. Multi-interface host can’t make dynamic adjustment when the network state changes. In addition, multi-interface host lack of the ability of self-study, self-healing, and self-configuration in the process of interface selection. So, it is hoped that multi-interface host can realize autonomous management in the future, which will reduce artificial management and cost of maintenance.In this paper, firstly, we introduce related technical background of host interface and autonomous network management, analysis the problems of the multi-interface host and several typical practices to solve the problems, and then summarize structure model and technical means and methods in autonomous network management. Secondly, given the thought of autonomous management, we give an autonomous interface selection method for multi-interfaces host. We design key function modules, which include information processing module, autonomous decision-making module and reconfigure module, and signaling processes which include signaling interactive process and strategy update process, realize multi-interface host to do the self management in the process of interface selection and finally fulfill the interface selection for the multi-interface selection. Thirdly, we realize the proposed scheme in the Linux environment by extending DHCPv6. Finally, we implement our solution based on the Linux and do the function test and performance test, the results show that our scheme can make the multiple-interface host communicates with multiple interfaces independently, and realize the balance of the interface business load. In addition, our scheme can improve the throughput of the multiple-interface significantly.
