Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET), as a hot spot nowadays, has beengaining more and more attention in the research field of mobile communication.Due to the prominent features of fast vehicles movement, bad wirelessenvironment and movement regularity are different from those exhibiting inMobile Ad Hoc networks (MANETs), the traditional routing protocols show thedefects such as frequent route breaks, control message flooding and so on, forinstance, AODV. At present, a significant trend is employing the novel QoSmechanism which meets the needs of various data transmission in vehiclescommunications, however, the traditional QoS routing protocol can not be appliedperfectly in VANET.In this paper, the weakness of the AODV routing protocol mechanism andthe protocol itself were presented. Besides, analysis of the link stability wasaddressed form the feature of route breakage. Moreover, novel analytical model isfirstly explored into the evaluation of route link stability. In this thesis, a Qos Routing protocol based on AODV (QRPBA) waspresented. By the theory analysis and simulation, the effectiveness and feasibilitywere completely verified. QRPBA shows the superior performances in effectivelylowering the routing broke ratio as well as packet drop ratio significantly, meanwhile, increasing the network throughput and scale. The method which analyzing the link stability in QRPBA can also be used inother routing protocols to achieve the Qos requirements, enhancing theperformance of routing protocol. This thesis was supported by the Chinese National Programs for HighTechnology Research and Development (863programme), named “The keytechnology research of vehicular communication system based on Ad Hoc” No.2007AA01Z234.
