Independent Colleges In Sichuan Province The Present Situation Of Basketball As A Public Course Study

The independent college is a newly emerging thing in China’s higher education reform. The new education mode of the independent college is bound to affect the operation pattern of the public sports curriculum. Practice has proved that the development of the public sports curriculum in the vast majority of independent colleges is not satisfying. So, it will be of strong practical significance to seek a path to improve the current situation of independent colleges’ sports curriculum with the public sports basketball curriculum reform as a breakthrough.This paper analyzes the current situation of the public basketball curriculum in four representative independent colleges in Sichuan using the methods of documentation, investigation, mathematical statistics and logical analysis. The basic conclusions are as follows:1. In Sichuan, the overall cognitive level of independent college students for public sports basketball course is comparatively low.2. The participation in public basketball course of Sichuan independent college students has a lot in common to that of general tertiary schools.3. The participation in extracurricular basketball activities of Sichuan independent college students is not satisfactory.4. The sports facilities in Sichuan independent colleges cannot meet the students’ needs.5. The students’ total evaluation for public basketball course in Sichuan independent colleges is poor.6.The main factors that affect the teaching quality of public basketball courses in Sichuan independent colleges include:lack of awareness from the leaders and development lag of the sports hardware facilities.
