So far, a remarkable achievement has been made in the studies of translation.Nevertheless, the research of the application of translation exercises in Senior Englishteaching is still relatively insufficient. To promote the competence of students’comprehensively using language through the application of translation exercises in SeniorEnglish teaching, the author makes a point that real stress should be laid on translationexercises in Senior English teaching, which should be guided by Input Hypothesis of Krashenand Output Hypothesis of Swain.This thesis includes six chapters. Chapter1is theintroduction, which contains the background, the contents, the purpose, the innovation, andthe significance of this study as well as the basic framework. The second is the literaturereview about this study, and it mainly analyses the past and present of translation exercises inSenior English teaching. The third chapter briefly introduces Input Hypothesis of Krashen andOutput Hypothesis of Swain and the relationship to this study. The fourth chapter is empiricalresearch, which proves the importance and feasibility of the application of translationexercises in Senior English teaching under the new curriculum standard.The fifth is thesuggested teaching notes and feasibility to the translation exercises in Senior English teaching.The sixth is the conclusion. This paper comprehensively analyses the domestic and foreignliteratures, points out the insufficiencies of translation exercises in Senior English teaching atpresent, uses the experiment of English teaching to demonstrate that the exercises oftranslation in Senior English teaching is an effective teaching method, which can improve thecomprehensive competence of using language, gives the feasibilitive advice and finally pointsout the limitations of the research. This study mainly uses the methods of the combination oftheory and practice, and reaches the following conclusions:1) It’s necessary to apply translation exercises in Senior English teaching2) Using translation exercises is an effective teaching method in Senior English teaching3) It’s of great importance for Input Hypothesis of Krashen and Output Hypothesis ofSwain to be used as the guidance in the application of translation exercises in Senior Englishteaching...
