This paper makes a thorough research on Virginia Woolf`s theory of the modernnovel form from the forming foundation, the form of theory and the creation. It focus onexploring the innovation of Virginia Woolf`s theory of the modern novel form and theapplication results in her creation. The first chapter analyses the origin of Woolf`sform of the modern novel theory specificly from the era background, personal qualities,literature development, etc. which shows the appearing of the theory is not an individualand accidental creation, but an inevitable being which depends on multiple elements; Byan depth exploration of the aesthetic foundation of Virginia Woolf`s theory of themodern novel form to make an analysis of Woolf`s Formal Aesthetics origin,founding the philosophy and aesthetics which effect it. And discussing the differencesbetween Roger Fry and Clive Bell, so that we could find the right one who influenceWoolf more. The second chapter shows concept form of Woolf`s theory of the modernnovel form from the relationship between Woolf`s theory and traditional literature, theprocessing of real life, and the comprehension of the "real", to clarify Woolf`sinnovation and transcendence in the process of constructing the theory of the modernnovel form. The third chapter analyzes the reflection of Woolf`s theory of the modernnovel form in her works by researching her representative practical writing, in order tograsp the theory deeply. At the end of the paper, a summary is given about thecontribution that Woolf`s theory of the modern novel form has made and thesignificance of Woolf`s exploration on the history of novel.
