Senile Insomnia Patients Constitution And Tcm Syndrome Type Of Correlation Analysis

Objective:By investigation of general information among elderly patients with insomnia, this study attempts to analyze the distribution of syndrome types and constitutions, discuss the difference of PSQI and correlation between them, therefore provide a reference for the treatment and prevention, and practice the trinity treatment model of disease-syndrome-constitution differentiation.Methods:With reference to CCMD (Classification and diagnostic Criteria of Mental Disorders in China), investigate168elderly insomnia patients who comply with the Criteria and consent to support the study randomly; collect the social demographic characteristics and the syndrome type in TCM; assess PSQI score and constitution type. The TCM diagnostic questionnaire is mainly based on the one formulated by the department of Neurology in Dongzhimen Hospital and perfected by other related literature. The data was analyzed by SPSS13.0using descriptive statistics, Chi-quare test and one-way ANOVA.Results:1.General information:The incident rate of insomnia among female is higher than that of male. The aged people with higher degrees and mental workers are more likely to suffer from insomnia. Most elderly insomniacs keep a regular and spicy diet, do exercises regularly or occasionly, and tend to have an edgy and irritable character.2. The distribution of syndromes from greatest to least is heart and spleen deficiency syndrome; heart-fire syndrome; syndrome of timidity due to deficiency of heart qi; liver qi with pathogenic heat syndrome; yin deficiency and fire redundancy syndrome and phlegm-heat disturbance syndrome.140elderly insomniacs have difficulty in falling asleep,while113others suffer from waking up easily. PSQI scores mainly vary from11to13. Most insomniacs use hypnotics regularly.3. correlation between constitution and syndrome pattern: Dampness-heat constitution has striking correlation with phlegm heat disturbance syndrome. Qi-stagnation constitution is related to the stagnation of the liver qi with pathogenic heat syndrome and yin deficiency-fire redundancy syndrome, while yin-deficiency constitution is related to heart-fire syndrome. Syndrome of timidity due to deficiency of heart Qi is usually derived from qi-deficiency constitution and blood-stasis constitution. The formation of heart and spleen deficiency syndrome has striking relationship with phlegm-dampness constitution. Conclusion: 1.The incident rate of insomnia is high among women, especially among mental workers and those who are edgy and irritable.2. Qi-stagnation Constitution is the most common one in the elderly insomniacs. PSQI scores vary significantly among all the constitution types.Blood-Stasis constitution is in the first rank,which indicates a more serious insomnia level.
