| Objective:to explor the relationship between the level of fibrinogen (Fib) in the plasma of patients and different types of cerebral infarction by severe extracranial carotid artery stenosis.Methods:83patients with acute cerebral infarction,35patients with asymptomatic severe carotid artery stenosis and50healthy volunteers(as a control group) were selected, their Fib levels were tested and carotid artery stenosis severity were detected to find the relativity between them. Results:According to the topographic patterns of the ischemic lesions shown on MRI the patients were subdivided into groups:7cases in the first type of cerebral infarction (territory infarcts),16cases in the second type (subcortical infarcts),21cases in the third type (several disseminated small infarcts),39cases in the fourth type (border-zone infarcts). There was no statistic difference in the opening of collateral circulation of different types of infarction (χ2=4.717, P>0.05). The levels of Fib in cerebral infarction group were significantly higher than those of asymptomatic severe carotid artery stenosis group (P<0.05) and control group (P<0.01); Compared with the control group, the levels of Fib carotidar in asymptomatic severetery stenosis group were significantly higher(P<0.05).compared with the subcortical infarcts, border-zone infarcts, and several disseminated small infarcts, the levels of Fib in territory infarcts group were significantly higher (P<0.01).The fibrinogen levels of the moderate neurological deficit and severe neurological deficit groups were significantly higher than those of the mild neurological deficit group (both P<0.01).Compared with the moderate neurological deficit group, the fibrinogen levels of thesevere neurological deficit group were significantly higher (P<0.01).The levels of fibrinogen in patients with bad prognosis were significantly higher than those of patients with good prognosis (t=7.7, P<0.01).Com(?)Sion:The level of (?)rniogen is closely reiated to cerebral infarction caused by severe carotid artery stenosis and specific infarction type. The level of fibrinogen is maybe an indicator of severity and prognosis of the cerebral infarction. |
