| Ducted propeller is a highly effective thruster, now it has been used in many kinds of ships, especially often in ships which always in heavy load. Since the ducted propeller is widely used, the research of ducted propeller has become the focus of domestic and abroad. This paper is based on CFD, combined with the basic knowledge of fluid mechanics, calculated the hydrodynamics performance of a normal propeller and a ducted propeller using computational fluid dynamics soft FLUENT. The main works are completed as follows:1) Calculated the open water hydrodynamic performance of a normal propeller, compared the calculation results with experimental results, and the analysis shows that the calculation results are consistent with experimental results. Therefore, calculating the open water hydrodynamics performance of propeller is feasible by using numerical simulation method.2) Designed normal propeller and ducted propeller for42m trawl fishing boat, then, calculated their open water hydrodynamic performance. Compared the calculation results, we confirmed that the open water hydrodynamics performance of ducted propeller is better than normal propeller’s. Especially like the trawl fishing boat, which is often in overload condition, using ducted propeller is better.3) Keep the shape of propeller changeless, set up different ducted propeller model through changing the parameters of duct, and then calculate their open water hydrodynamic performance, analyze the calculation results, we can draw the influence law of ducted parameters on ducted propeller hydrodynamic performance. Finally, put forward optimize scheme of ducted propeller design to provide the reference for future ducted propeller designers. |
