Objective:To observe postoperative brain edema in craniotomy of intracranial space-occupying lesion by the use of BORN-BE non-invasive dynamic brain edema monitor for continuous monitoring, to investigate the rule of brain edema in craniotomy, to evaluate the clinical value of the instrument, and to achieve the purpose of guiding clinical treatment. Methods:Brain edema in 30 patients with supratentorial space-occupying lesions was deteced by BOEN-BE non-ivasive brain edema monitor by observing the changes of cerebral electrical impendance perturbation coefficient values of bilateral hemispheres in preoperative 1d and postoperative 1~10d.Bilateral hemisphere cerebral electrical impedance perturbation coefficients values detected by the same monitor in 10 cases without brain disease as control group. Results:In 30 cases, the cerebral electrical impedance perturbation coefficients values in day 2-9 after operation of operated sides are higher than the healthy sides in some degrees, especially in postoperative 3-7d.The difference was more than 0.3.The cerebral electrical impedance perturbation coefficient values of the operated side were significantly higher than those of healthy side (P<0.01).The difference between the two sides was less than 0.3 in preoperative 1d, postoperative 1d and 10d. The values were no significant difference (P>0.05). In the healthy control group, the values of the cerebral electrical impedance perturbation coefficients on two sides were very close to less than 0.3,contrast,were no significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion:①The non-invasive dynamic brain edema monitor is sensitive and objective to reflect the change of cerebral edema in patients in craniotomy.②The values of the cerebral electrical impedance perturbation coefficients on two sides were very close 1d before operation, the diference was obvious after surgery.③To the patients in supratentorial craniotomy, it can guide and evaluate the treatment of cerebral edema, with CT and other imaging data sometimes.
