| This study was the survey about job burnout, social supports and mental health status of physicians in three grade hospitals of Jiaxing City in Zhejiang Province, based on the literature about the relevance of physicians burnout. Analysis of the relationship and impact among demographic variables, social support,mental health and job burnout were be done with SPSS 15.0. According to the result, the strategies and interventions for job burnout were implemented at three levels including the community, the hospital organizations and individuals. The study provided a theoretical and empirical basis for improving the physical and mental health of physicians, alleviating physician-patient relationship, developing scientific and effective ways to alleviate and eliminate burnout physicians with a survey about the status of physician burnout for social, health administrative departments and hospital administrators as well.According to investigation and analysis of physician burnout, social support and mental health in three grade hospitals of Jiaxing City, the conclusion of this study was showed as following:1. Physician burnout in three grade hospitals of Jiaxing City could be classified as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization or dehumanization and diminished personal accomplishment respectively. There is some physician burnout in the region, with more emotional exhaustion and diminished personal accomplishment .2. Middle-aged young physicians which were 31-40 years old, 10-20 years work experience had higher level of job burnout, more severe emotional exhaustion and diminished personal accomplishment; the higher position, the higher degree of emotional exhaustion. 3. Physicians received many social supports including high subjective support and objective support, but the useless of supports was low. With age, physicians had more access to subjective support; The useless of social supports was higher among unmarried physicians than married physicians; Subjective support and the useless of social supports were relatively high among physician with vocational qualifications; Physicians with high position had more subjective supports, and physicians with intermediate position had more objective supports than junior and senior physicians; Physicians could get more subjective support as increasing working experience, and physicians with the work experience of less than 5 years and more than 21 years had be high the useless of support.4. The physicians mental health problems now is not very serious, middle-aged and young doctors of 31-40 years old had more mental health problems; physicianrs with children had more mental health problems than pyhysicians without the children.5. The useless of support was significant negative correlation with motional exhaustion among physicians; subjective supports and the useless of support were significant negative correlation with depersonalization or dehumanization; subjective supports was significant negative correlation with diminished personal accomplishment. Social supports can alleviate the incidence of job burnout. Social support can be as a negative indicator to the burnout; the useless of support could reduce significantly the incidence of emotional exhaustion; subjective support could work on depersonalization or dehumanization and diminished personal accomplishment.6. The three burnout factors had significantly positive correlation with mental health the more severe physician burnout, the more serious mental health problems. Burnout can be used as a effective mental health indicator, in which emotional exhaustion and diminished personal accomplishment had more significant effects on the mental health.7. Subjective support and the useless of support had significantly negative correlation with mental health, the more the subjective support and the useless of support, the fewer mental health problems. Good social support was helpful for maintaining and upgrading the level of physician mental health. Social support can be served as a effective mental health indicator, which subjective support had the most significant effects on the mental health.Countermeasure and interventions of lowering job burnout were provided from the three levels including social, organizational and individual based on the study of status of physicians burnout in hospital of Jiaxing City.1. At the social level, the Government and the community to establish and improve the social support system, hold reasonable expectations for occupational physicians, creating a optimal social environment.2. At the organizational level, the hospital should pay attention to the construction of organizational culture to enhance the job satisfaction of physicians; to establish a good environment, to increase hospital support for physician; to improve hospital management, to implement humane management system; to implement active psychological interventions so as to keep the doctors in a sound psychological state; to establish security mechanisms to control health risks; to be concerned about the growth of physicians and expand its advanced needs; to establish reasonable remuneration incentives and encourage the enthusiasm for their work.3. At the individual level, physicians should have a correct understanding of job burnout, take the initiative to carry out psychological adjustment; enhance control and improve the capacity of self-regulation; adhere to the correct values and professional ideals, design rational developing of career; enhance communication skills, build a harmonious interpersonal relationships.In short, social, organizations and individuals work together to build a healthy and optimal social support system, taking active countermeasures and making effective prevention of job burnout, which will help to ensure the job quality of physicians and markedly improved physical and mental health of physicians . |
