| Purpose: Proprioception is the sense of motor organs of the body suchas muscle, tendon, joint during different movement state and is importantfor maintaining the stability of joint. The loss of proprioception inpatients underwent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction hasnegative effects on recovery of motor function after operation. It isdifficult for patients to rebuild proprioception unless with the help ofspecific rehabilitation training. Proprioceptive NeuromuscularFacilitation(PNF) is a training method which can enhance neuro-motorreaction and improve muscular contraction by stimulating motor andposture sense. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects ofPNF on recovery of proprioception in patients underwent ACLreconstruction.Method:Thirty patients who underwent ACL reconstruction was dividedrandomly into two groups according to different rehabilitation training:control group and PNF group, fifteen patients each group. All patientstook part in rehabilition training for3months and went to rehabilitationclinic regularly to get advice for one year. Patients in control groupreceived routine rehabilitation training while patients in PNF groupreceive additional PNF training beside routine rehabilition training. Allpatients’knee function, proprioception and topesthesia were evaluatedrespectively by using Lysholm and Cillquist knee score scale, PC708balance test system and Biodex multi-joint isokinetic system at the3th,6th,9th month after operation.Results:1, patients’knee function scores of PNF group were higher than thoseof control group which was statistically meaningful at the3thmonth afteroperation. Patients’knee function scores of the two groups achieved goodgrade at the6thmonth after operation.2,There was significantly different between the two groups in scoresof balance test at the3th,6th,9th month after operation.3, The recovery of topesthesia in PNF group was better than that incontrol group at the3th,6th month after operation. Conclusion:1,PNF can improve recovery of patients after having ACLreconstruction.2,PNF is such an rehabilitation training which is easy to employ andhas no requirement for site and apparatus that it can reduce fee ofrehabilitation training and is appropriate for primary hospitals toemploy. |
