Research On Modern Henan Christian Medical Enterprise(1840-1949)

From the perspective of regional society history this paper studies the medical missionary enterprises, which initiated in Henan province by modern church (both Catholic and Protestant church). Based on the research of the generation, development and evolution of medical missionary enterprises in Henan province, by which the author discusses the objective influence caused. And then the paper explores the spread and effect of modern western medicine in Henan. The paper is divided into three parts, including introduction, main texr and conclusion.The introduction part explains the reason why choosing the topic, and has a review of the previous relative studies, and then defines the key words in this study. It is instructive and methodological to master the relevant research mehtod and academic norm. In the second chapter the author introduces the historical background of the medical missionary enterprises in Henan province, and makes an exploration about the geographical position and the reasons people get religion. The third and fourth chapter respectively describe the spread of Catholicism and Protestantism in Henan and the general situation of medical missionary enterprises in modern time, Based on which the author further explores the generation and development of medical missionary enterprises. The fifth chaper is the case study. And in the sixth chapter the modern medical missionary enterprises is generally assessed. The missionaries and their dedication to the spread of western medicine in Henan is affiremed positively, and at the meantime the limitation also is indicated objectively.The conclusion part summarizes the main arguments in the paper.
