Objective:In this study, a survey about the Community Employment intention ofTieling Health College nursing students was carried out to understand the current community employment situation of college nursing students and its influencing fa ct ors,further raise some constructive feedbacks on the method of cultivation of nur sing education talents to improve community care, provide a reference for related re se ar ches, and play a positive role in promoting better community care education in voca tional colleges.Methods:Using questionnaires investigate nursing students in Tieling Health College about community employment intentions.Choose Sun Xiaojia’s question naireon the survey of community nursing career attractive as the basis for the design of theresearch questionnaire. The questionnaire included three sections: the general con di tion of nursing students; career choice of nursing students; view and selecttion towardscommunity care job. Cluster random sampling method,372questionnaires were dist ributed,354were returned, and347questionnaires were valid.The recovered ef fic iency was98.02%. The data were analyzed by SPSS16.0software.Results:1.In the survey61.10%of the respondent are willing to engaged in community care work.2.Among the respondent,the main source of knowledge and un derstanding of community care was school-related courses (55.6%), but the part of thenursing students in community employment intentions accounted for56.6%.3.Amongthe Students who were willing to engage in the work of community care, students w ho did an internship made for higher proportion (55.2%).4.The favorable factors for Nursing students having community employment intentions included low pressure (45.2%),meaningfulness of the work(26.2%), more work independence (23.8%);the most Important hindering factors: poor benefits (40.3%), lack of space for development (34.3%)(32.1%), low degree of social recognition, and these are the value of com mu nity nursing work.5.That the students that think themselves were competent to co mmunity care job(53.8%) compared to the students (40.0%)that think themselves were no t competent to, had higher intention to the Community Empl oyment, the difference was statistically significant (χ~2=8.722, P=0.033).6.Employ ment, job choice is related to willingness to engage in community care about the students (2=10.511, P=0.033), the first choice of the students willing to engage in community care was clinical care (42.0%), followed by nursing management (26.9%), again for nursing education (14.6%); the students do not want to engage in community care: care ma na gement (41.5%), clinical care (36.3%), nursing education (14.1%).7.students willing toengage in community care work than the students do not want to engage in co mm unity care work more optimistic about the prospects for the development of the Chinesecommunity care, and both the difference were statistically significance (χ~2=2.000,P=0.046).The difference in the understanding of community care work situation between students that willing and unwilling to en gage in community care was not stat istically significant (χ~2=1.870, P=0.062).Conclusion:1.In the survey of the respondent are willing to engaged in com munity care work.2..This showed that nursing students who did an in te r nship are morewilling to select community care job.3.The favorable factors for Nurs ing studentshaving community employment intentions included low pressu re,meani ng fulness ofthe work, more work independence;the most important hindering factors:poor benefits,lack of space for development, low degree of social recognition, and th ese are thevalue of community nursing work.4.It suggested that a basic level of co mp etencecorresponding to community nurses positions will affect nursing students’ communityemployment intentions.5.When the nursing students make a choice between the clinical nurses and community nurses, still the majority choose hospital.6. It suggested that the understanding of the status of the community care of nursing stude nts was stillwith a large degree of subjectivity.
