Objective The purpose of the study was to study the outcomes of health promotion aboutprevention and treatment of tuberculosis (TB) among the floating population in HubeiProvince.Methods Cluster random sampling was used. The floating population over the age of15in partof Xiangyang City and Jingmen City were investigated by face to face interview. First ofall, through the baseline questionnaire survey, find the knowledge, attitude, behavior, andsources of information of floating population. Then, conduct a campaign of healthpropaganda and education for3months among the research objects.And then valuate theeffect through the investigation by performance questionnaires.The data of questionnaireswas entered with EpiDate3.0, and analyzed by statistics with SPSS16.0. The mainmethods include descriptive analysis, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis.Results The research collected1113effective questionnaires, the floating population is aged35.5on average. Among them,56.7%have the education level of or under junior highschool. From the relevant situation of TB knowledge of the floating population in HubeiProvince, the overall awareness rate was43.76%, it rose to61.12%after the interventionand had statistical difference(P<0.05). The core information awareness rate rose from51.87%to68.1%after the intervention and had statistical difference (P<0.05). Afteranalysis, age, the education level and whether to accept health education are the mostimportant factors influencing the knowledge of TB of the floating population. Before theintervention,48.8%persons thought that TB was very terribly,45.6%persons thought thatTB had a great influence on the body. After the intervention, the proportion of objects whothought TB was very terribly decreased obviously (34.2%)and had statistical difference(P<0.05). In the behavior also made a difference before and after the intervention. Theratio of the floating population selection to professional treatment institutions for treatmentof TB rose from33.9%to50.6%, after the intervention and had statistical difference(P<0.05). The TB knowledge was obtained mainly through listening to others talk,watching TV and folding leaflets and posters.Conclusion Before the intervention, the construction workers have little knowledge of TB,lack the risk sense of TB, and have no effective prevention behaviors. After the healthintervention, the awareness rate of relevant knowledge of TB raised, and the attitude andbehavior changed among the floating population.
