Veratrum Linn, is Liliaceae Veratrum genus plants, a kind of Perennial herb which characterizes by bitter and acrid in taste and cold in nature, and toxic. The radix and rhizomes used in traditional Chinese medicine can be emetic, expectorant, insecticide. Main treatments are aphasia arising from apoplexy, dysenteryjaundice, etc.; external applicationt for scabies, malignant sore, insect disinfestation. Varieties V.nigrum L., V.dahuricum(Turcz.)Loes.f.and V.Schindleri L, mainly distributed in Northeast, Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Hubei (Fang County), Sichuan and Guizhou. The main component in Veratrum is steroidal alkaloids, and its pharmacological effects as follows: blood pressure, cardiac, hemodynamic effects, improvement of cerebral circulation, affecting the neuromuscular, anti-schistosome, anti-fungal, and acaricidal and so on.The nature of microbial transformation is a process of a substance (substrate) transformed into another substance (product) by a microorganism, which are one or several chemical reactions using the one or several specific extracellular or intracellular enzymes as biological catalysts in a microorganism. Veratrum steroidal alkaloids have good anti-tumor activity, so bio-transfer pre-isolated laboratory Veratrum steroidal alkaloid in order to obtain better Hedgehog pathway inhibitors for providing a theoretical basis for the development of new anticancer drugs.Microbial transformation of three kinds of steroidal alkaloids in Veratrum nigrum Linn. by Cunninghamella echinulata in present study and obtained9new compounds.
