Purpose:To observe the expression of Akt in neovascularization in rat corneal alkali burn and explore the role of Akt in the corneal neovascularization process. Methods:Building a model of the rat corneal alkali burn neovascularization.20rats were divided into normal control group(Group A) and the experimental group. The experimental group at different times after corneal alkali burn was divided into Group B> Group C and Group D. There were five rats in each group.Group B was the first three days of corneal alkali burn. Group C was corneal alkali burn in the first5days and D was the first14days of corneal alkali burn. And then filter paper which was soaked in1%NaOH solution was sticked to the right eye of the experimental rats. After the growth of neovascularization had been observed and the corneal tissue had been taken in each experimental group, the method of Western blotting technology was used to detect the dynamics expression of Akt in corneal neovascularization.Results:1.The limbus blood vessels started to expand in24hours after rat cornea alkali burns, and after48hours, the blood vessel at the limbus began to grow towards the cornea. In the14th day, the cornea was covered with long and sparse neovascular and the central corneal become thinner.2. In the neovascularization of the rat corneal alkali burn, the Akt protein expression level had the highest value in Group C, which is0.840±0.015, and Akt expression differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) compared with other groups. In every experimental group, Akt expression differences compared with the control group was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Within a certain time of the rat corneal alkali burn,Akt expression is an upward trend2.The Akt protein could promote the neovascularization of rat corneal alkali burn.
