| Objectives:Growth differentiation factor15(GDF-15) is a member of transforming growth factor-β superfamily. To determine the serum expression levels of GDF-15in CHD patients by ELISA.To investigate the relationships between GDF-15and severity of coronary artery lesions. To investigate the relationships between CDF-15and hsCRP&left ventricular function. To evaluate whether GDF-15could be an index of efficacy and prognosis post PCI therapy for Acute Coronary Syndrome. Methods:We recruited200patients with coronary heart diseases and100Contral Group people with normal coronary arteries in Cardiovascular Department of the People’s Hospital of Haikou City. All of the cases were confirmed by coronary arteriongraphy. The clinical characteristics and ECG findings on admission were recorded. All the patients were gather arterial blood specimens before coronary angiography, the GDF-15and hs-CRP assay was constructed. The severity of coronary artery lesions were assessed by Gensini scores. The left ventricular ejection fraction was determined by echocardiogram. The levels of GDF-15were determined by ELISA, and patients receiving PCI therapy for ACS, the serum GDF-15level was determined1ã€3and12months post discharging.Results:1. The GDF-15level was397.90±108.71ng/l in control group,785.80±230.58ng/l in CHD group. There was statistically significant difference in GDF-15between CHD Group and control group. The GDF-15level was611.50±155.82ng/l in SA group,850.26±220.44ng/l in ACS group. There was statistically significant difference in GDF-15between Group SA and ACS.2. The serum level of GDF-15was positively correlated to the severity (Gensini scores, divided into3categorizations:≤20;<20-40≤;>40) of artery lesions,r=0.562(p<0.01).3. The serum level of GDF-15in three groups (single-vessel lesion,double-vessel lesion,three-vessel lesion) were significantly higher than control group.GDF-15level was difference during the three groups,(P<0.01).4. The serum concentration of GDF-15was positively correlated to the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) in CHD group,r=0.774(p<0.01).5. The serum concentration of GDF-15was negatively correlated to LVEF in CHD groups=-0.684(p<0.01).6. The PCI therapy group was followed up, and the serum GDF-15was rechecked1,3, and12months later, it was seen that the GDF-15level was significantly decreased post therapy, while it remained high in patients who experienced end-point events. So, the GDF-15could serve as a serological index of efficacy and prognosis (compared with the GDF-15level on admission).Conclusions:GDF-15can be used for evaluation of coronary lesions degree and left ventricular function. The serum GDF-15level could have prognostic values in Acute Coronary Syndrome patients. |
