Marigold:(Tagetes erecta L),commonly known as golden aster,Coreopsis, yellow chrysanthemum, calendula, stink Hibiscus,Marigold genus of compositae, annual herb. The flower is used as medicine, with Heat-clearing and Detoxifying, relive a caugh and reduce phlegm effect. It has been used as an antibacterial agent, sedative, anticonvulsant agent, for the treatment of mumps, tracheitis, mastitis, whooping cough, hypertension, conjunctivitis, postpartum uterine prolapse, carbuncle sore and other diseases. It is reported that there are prescriptions with relive a caugh and expectorant effect and marigold for treating acute, chronic bronchitis. Objective:To study the pharmacological effect of expectorant and determine the content of total flavonoids of Marigold, for its further research, exploitation and utilization provides certain theory basis.Methods:1.Use the mice with phenol red excretion method to determine the expectorant effect of Marigold.2.Compounds were separated by polyamide column chromatography to screening the expectorant effective part of reduce phlegm.3.Use color reaction to differential marigold expectorant effective part composition category.4.Use orthogonal design to optimization of total flavonoids extraction process from marigold.Conclusions:1.Water extraction of Marigold showed significant expectorant effect.2.90% ethanol elution was confirmed as the expectorant effective part.3.Through color reaction of50% ethanol elution of marigold, made the initial judge of it contains flavonoids,phenols,tannin,anthraquinone.4.The optimal extraction process as follows:Extracting for3times, extraction time2h,liquid feed ratio10:1.
