BackgroudMost of the benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) patients are accompanied by histological prostatic inflammation, and there are different volume of the bleeding during the surgery. Although the gold standard of the surgery is minimally invasive now, there are serious bleeding and transurethral resection prostate (TURS), or other complications. So, it takes dangerous to the patients who should be underwent the TURP. What is the relationgship between the inflammation and BPH, and whether it could reduce the volume of the bleeding if some kind of drugs were given to the patients before the surgery. These questions should be solved. Objective By treating BPH patients with prostat before the transurethral resection prostate (TURP), observing whether it can diminish the degree of the histological prostatic inflammation or reduce the risk of the TURP, to evaluate the peri-operation period clinical efficiency of prostat in BPH patient. Methods From June2011to January2012,54BPH patients who would to be underwent TURP, were admitted in our department and were divided into two groups at random, and there is no significant difference of each indicator between the two groups before the experiment. The patients of the experimental group were treated with prostat140mg po bid while the control group was treated placebo. After4weeks,the two groups were underwent the TURP equally. Recorded the indicators, including the degree of the histological prostatic inflammation, the volume of the bleeding, the time of the TURP, the volume of washing fluid and etc, and compare these between the two groups.ResultAfter the treatment of prostat, the degree of the histological prostatic inflammation of the patients in the experimental group declined significantly, and so did the volume of the bleeding, the time of the TURP and the volume of washing fluid, and it is significantly different in statistics when comparing with the control group (P<0.05). But there is no significant difference in IPSS, Qmax, the volume of resected prostate, residual urine and PSA between the two groups(P>0.05). In the experimental group, except for residual urine, there is no significant difference in IPSS, Qmax, the volume of resected prostate and PSA before and after the prostat treatment too (P>0.05).ConclusionProstat can lower the degree of the histological prostatic inflammation of the BPH patient significantly, so as to shorten the time of the TURP, decrease the volume of the bleeding, reduce the volume of washing fluid, and lower the risk of the TURP ultimately. However, prostat can not improve IPSS, Qmax, the volume of prostate and residual urine immediately, it has no influence on PSA.
