Objective:To explore the differences of the TCM syndrome (type of kidney essence vacuity and phlegm blocking orifices type) in magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) of patients with vascular cognitive impairment non-demented (VCIND)Methods:We screened the45-84year-old patients in outpatient and inpatient department of Chinese medicine hospital of Hubei Province from the October of2010to the February of2012, a professional practitioner of Chinese encephalopathy unified its line of TCM the the Hou rating (SDSVD), clinicaldementia Rating Scale (CDR) score, the Mini-Mental Examination (MMSE) score, activities of daily living (ADL) were Haijinsiji ischemic index (Hachinski) score rating depression Scale (HMD), Han Mi secretMontreal cognitive function (MoCA) score, according to the results, and refer to the diagnostic criteria by the previous researchers of VCIND, we screened the patients with vascular cognitive impairment non-type dementia (VCIND)42cases, including13cases of patients with deficiency of kidney essence, and13cases of the patients with phlegm blocking the orifices, included in15cases of healthy older adults in the light of the elderly health standards developed by the WHO as normal control group, according to the statistical analysis, there was no significant difference (p<0.05) of the general information, like gender, age, education leveland ect of the three groups. The selected of these three groups were performed on brain magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) examination, we measurement the NAA, Cho, Cr and NAA/Cr in Cho/Cr ratio of the bilateral hippocampus, frontal lobe, thalamus, angular gyrus and the cingulate. All subjects were right-handed, and signed informed consent before enrollment. Results:compared to the control group,we found that the performance of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) in the patients of Vascular cognitive impairment without dementia (VCIND)’s NAA/Cr ratio decreased significantly in the thalamus and right posterior cingulate, the Cho/Cr values increased in the right frontal lobe, while compared with the control group, the NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr values in hippocampus and the angular gyrus’s difference was not statistically significant; which, compared with the control group, phlegm blocking the orifices group the right side of the hypothalamusand the right posterior cingulate NAA/Cr ratio was significantly decreased; deficiency of kidney essence group left thalamus NAA/Cr ratio was significantly decreased; these two groups of the right frontal lobe Cho/Cr values were significantly higherConclusion:The cognitive dysfunction of the patients with Vascular cognitive impairment without dementia (VCIND) may be with the bilateral hypothalamus, the right frontal lobe, right posterior cingulate neurons metabolic abnormalities; patients of VCIND with different TCM Hou, the changes of the site of euron metabolic abnormalities in the patient’s brain may be different; type of deficiency of kidney essence likely to involving the left thalamus. phlegm blocking the orifices type may be involving the right thalamus and right posterior cingulateback to the main; cognitive function of TCM Hou characteristics metabonomics research will become one of the important research direction in the Chinese medicine profession in the future.
