Objectives To measure the burden and quality of life in primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy,to explore the effects of cognitive and behavioral intervention on the burden and quality of life in primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, to prove the effectiveness of cognitive and behavioral intervention through clinical practice. Methods This study was an experimental study. Divides into two stages, the first stage for the baseline survey phase,294primary Caregivers of lung cancer in Xiangya hospital, the Second Xiangya hospital of Central South University, and Tumor Hospital of Hunan Provincial were selected to be the investigation subjects. to explore their burden and quality of life。 The second stage for the psychological intervention implementation stage, according to the scoring standard of zarit Caregiver Burden Interview, consider the burden scoring will be≥40point for the experimental subjects, Convenient sampling and group matching were used,93participants were divided into two groups.47in the intervention group and46in the control group. Subjects in the intervention group were received cognitive behavioral intervention in addition to routine care in hospital. The intervention was implemented for30-60miniutes every weeks for10weeks. Subjects in control group were given routine care only. The outcome of burden and quality of life were evaluated before and after intervention in both groups, to analysis the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral intervention. Results (1) the baseline results showed that the total score of burden in294primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapyith were33.8(?)11.50, the Caregivers with severe burden accounted for31.97%.(2)the baseline results showed that total score of quality of life in294primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapyith were (171.18+34.96) descending order of the four dimension scores:physical status(PS) spiritual status (SS), social concerns(SC),mental status(MS); After the single factor variance analysis and the multiple stepwise regressions indicated that the burden, whether to have chronic illness, degree of education of Caregivers, the patient age, patient disease by stages, five factors for the quality of life influencing factor.(3) Paired-samples t-test and nonparametric Wilcoxon test showed that the score of burden in intervention group was declined significantly(P<0.01)before and after intervention, and in the control group the score of burden was inclined but have no statistics significance (P>0.05) except the dimention of personal burden (P<0.05). Two independent-samples T test and Mann-Whitney U test showed that the score of burden of intervention group were significant lower than control after intervention with statistical significance(P<0.05). Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the main effects of intervention on the total score of ZBI were significant(P<0.05),but have no statistics significance (P>0.05) on the dimension of personal burden, roles burden; The main effects of time on personal burden, roles burden, and the total score of ZBI were significant (P<0.05). There were significant interactions between time and intervention on above variates(P<0.05).(4)Paired-samples t-test showed that the score of qaulity of life in intervention group was increased significantly(P<0.01) except the physical status(Ps)(P>0.05) before and after intervention, and in the control group the score was changed but have no statistics significance (P>0.05). Two independent-samples T test and Mann-Whitney U test showed the score of qaulity of life of intervention group were significant higher than control after intervention with statistical significance(P<0.01) except the of physical status(Ps) a (P>0.05). Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the main effects of both intervention and time on physical status(PS) spiritual status (SS), social concerns(SC),mental status(MS)and the total qaulity of life was significant(P<0.05). There were significant interactions between time and intervention on above variates(P<0.05).Conclusion(1) the burden in the primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy(2)the quality of life in the primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy descending order of the four dimension scores:physical status(PS),spiritual status (SS), social concerns(SC),mental status(MS); burden, whether to have chronic illness, the degree of education of Caregivers, the patient age, patient disease by stages, five factors for the quality of life influencing factor.(3) Cognitive behavioral intervention could decrease the level of burden and improve the quality of life in the primary Caregivers of lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy...
