| Aim:To compare the patency rates of the blood vessel after percutaneous transluminal balloon angioplasty (PTA) with that after PTA and stent insertion in patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS). Observe the complications after stent insertion. Methods:Radiological intervention was carried out on283patients during1994to2011in our hospital. PTA in IVC was carried out on245patients, among whom150patients had stent insertion. PTA in HV was carried out on56patients and34had stent insertion. Observe the patency rates of those patients and the complications. Results:The success rate of radiological intervention in IVC was96.3%.19patients after PTA only got the vessel obstructed again. The patency rates were92%,78%,69%at1,3,5years.18patients accepting PTA and stent insertion got the vessel obstructed again. The patency rates were97%,93%,89%at1,3,5years. The difference between the two groups is significant (p=0.001). However, the stent in one patient penetrated into the thoratic cavity, and fracture was found in7stents. While the success rate of radiological intervention in HV was92.9%.5patients after PTA only got the blood vessel obstructed again.2patients after PTA and stent insertion got the vessel obstructed again. And the patency rate of the two group were94.4%,72.4%ã€64.3%and97.1%,93.3%ã€93.3%at1,3,5years, respectively. The difference between the two groups is also significant (p=0.028)Conclusion:The patency rate of blood vessel after PTA and stent insertion was higher than that after PTA only. However, some complications were found long time after the stent insertion. Therefore, the treatment should be determined according to the obstruction type of the blood vessel. |
