Objective:To evaluate clinical efficacy of transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) with overactive bladder(OAB).Methods:From2011to2012. a total of23patients diagnosed BPH with OAB were treated by operation from57to86(averaged69) years old. Indices such as quality of life score (QOL、International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS、maximum flow rate(Qmax、postvoiding residual(PVR) and Overactive Bladder Symptom Score(OABSS)、Question3score were monitored and statistically analyzed preoperatively. Modus operandi:TURP. After the follow-up of1-2months postoperatively, monitor and statistically analyze the preoperative indices again. Results:The mean preoperative QOL and IPSS score were4.7±0.9and27.2±3.6. and decreased to2.0±1.1and12.9±2.0postoperative. The mean Qmax was (4.17±2.55) ml/s preoperative and increased to (18.46±3.28) ml/s postoperative. Preoperative average PVR was (172.9±116.3)ml, decreased to (13.1±14.1)ml after operation. The mean preoperative OABSS and Question3score were10.2±1.3and3.9±0.8. and decreased to7.4±1.2and2.5±1.1. During the follow—up,6(26.1%) patients considered that the symptom was not acceptable or bearable.(IPSS≥3), the residual17(73.9%)patients considered that the symptom was acceptable or nearly acceptable。5(21.7%) patients did not suffer from residual postoperative urgent micturition nearly however9(39.1%) patients suffered from residual postoperative urgent micturition。All the patients considered that they did not suffer from dysuria。Conclusions:When BPH with OAB patients exist bladder outlet obstruction, the OAB symptom correlates closely with bladder outlet obstruction, the bladder outlet obstruction should be relieved first.TURP is effective for BPH with OAB patients, the OAB symptoms can be relieved after the operation, but some patients have residual symptoms...
