| Nowadays, on contrary of the rapid development of economy, China has to face agrowing pressure on resources and environment, which pushes the geological studyonto a more important position. Along with the large numbers of problems andcontradictions arising with the social transformation period, the workers engaged ingeological surveys are facing with a load work stress probably set off by many factors,and their stress can directly influence their survey abilities and, in general, their workperformance. This research is for the purpose of discussing the work stress ofgeological personnel. The research is based on the way of questionnaire, assessed thestatus of job stressor, coping style and strain. The whole data statistical work is basedon SPSS16.0and AMOS7.0. The results are as follows:1. The degree of the work stressor of geological personnel is in middle level. Thestrongest work stressors are: career development, organizational climate and workfamily conflict, these bring the geological personnel the largest source of work stress.The stressors with less impact are role ambiguity and role management.2. Geological personnel’s personal strain, which include vocational strain,psychological strain and interpersonal strain are higher than the national norm. Thisresult shows that geological personnel have a high level of the stressresponse. Comparative analysis with other occupations, geological worker’svocational strain, psychological strain, and interpersonal strain sore are higherthan managers, researchers, teachers, sales people, and criminal police. In thephysical strain, geological personnel are lower than criminal police, but higher thanin other occupations;3. Men have higher score than women in the Workload, work familyconflict, management roles, personal responsibility, role conflict and workenvironment. In the general sense of stressor, the field geological survey personnelhave higher scores than employees who not go to the field. In the work environment, the longer time in field, the higher the score of work stressors;4. Controlling for demographic variables, coping style, personality variables, mostof the stressor is positively related to the strain. This demonstrates that the higher thestressor level is, the higher the strain will be. Therefore, coping strategies play anadjustment function in the relationship between stressor and strain. More specificallyspeaking, if the control coping strategy gains a better score in the high score group ofthe organizational climate, the tension level of work will be lower. If the supportstrategy gains a better score in the low score group of job&family, or in the low scoregroup of organizational climate,the level of interpersonal and psychological tensionwill be lower, too. |
