BackgroundThrough combing and summarizing the clinical experience and academic thought of a famous veteran teran doctor of TCM called Meng Qingyun, we know Wen-qing-bu-gu method of treatment and Shengeqinglong decoction for chronic persistent period of bronchial asthma were established according to the basic pathogenesis of deficiency of lung, spleen and kidney interweaved with excess. But the curative effect of this method needs to be objectively evaluated.ObjectivesTo observe the curative effect of Wen-qing-bu-gu method of treatment for chronic persistent period of bronchial asthma.Methods60patients diagnosed as chronic persistent period of bronchial asthma were divided into test and control groups according to their own accord in this nonrandomized control trial. The conventional therapy of western medicine on the two groups was same, while the TCM therapies were different. The TCM therapy of test group was plus minus treatment of Shengeqinglong decoction, while that of control group was conventional treatment based on differentiation of symptoms and signs. After treatment of3months, the curative effect was evaluated through observing the variation of symptoms of asthma, ACT scores, pulmonary function and the usage of remission drugs. Results1. Both of the diurnal symptoms scores of asthma of the two groups were declined post-therapy. There was significant difference between pretherapy and post-therapy (P<0.05), while no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).2. Both of the nocturnal symptoms scores of asthma of the two groups were declined post-therapy. There was significant difference between pretherapy and post-therapy (P<0.05). The decline of nocturnal symptoms score of the test group was larger than the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).3. Both of the total symptoms scores of asthma of the two groups were declined post-therapy. There was significant difference between pretherapy and post-therapy (P<0.05). The decline of total symptoms score of the test group was larger than the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).4. Both of the ACT scores of the two groups were increased post-therapy. There was significant difference between pretherapy and post-therapy (P <0.05). The increase of ACT score of the test group was larger than the control group. There was significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05).5. Both of the pulmonary functions of the two groups were better post-therapy. There was significant difference between pretherapy and post-treatment (P<0.05), while no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05).6. Between the two groups, there was no significant difference of cases of usage of remission drugs (P>0.05), while significant difference of days of usage of remission drugs (P<0.05).7. In the either TCM syndrome types of the test group, there was no significant difference of symptoms scores of asthma, ACT scores and pulmonary functions (P>0.05).ConelusionCompared to conventional TCM therapy, Wen-qing-bu-gu method of treatment for chronic persistent period of bronchial asthma has better curative effect, including improving symptoms of asthma, ACT scores and pulmonary functions, decreasing days of usage of remission drugs. |
