ObjectiveTo compare the effects of corneal astigmatism after phacoemulsification with two different surgical corneal incisions.MethodsPhacoemulsification was performed on62cases (76eyes) of senile cataract, which were randomly divided into two groups. The changes of corneal astigmatism and visual acuity before and after operation between group A (incision at the superior temporal or superior nasal) and B(incision at the steepest corneal meridian) were compared.ResultsStatistical analysis showed that the significant difference in the two groups of patients preoperative and postoperative uncorrected visual acuity. Three days and one month after the surgery, there was no significant changes in group A preoperative and postoperative corneal astigmatism. Corneal astigmatism less thanl.OD patients in group B,there was no significant difference in the preoperative and postoperative corneal astigmatism three months after surgery; but the preoperative corneal astigmatism more than1.0D patients was compared, the results showed that the corneal astigmatism was not significantly after3days,1month,3months after operation.ConclusionsWhen the Preoperative corneal astigmatism less than1.0D,If the3mm transparent corneal incision is placed on the steepest corneal meridian in phacoemulsification, the postoperative corneal astigmatism can be reduced significantly to patients preoperative astigmatism more than1.0D, and patients can obtain a better visual acuity.
