Purpose: To investigate the recent clinical outcome for NEER typeⅡdistalclavicle fractures in Adult treated by the use of clavicle hook plate. Methods: We retrospectively assessed 32 adult patients with NEER type 2fractures of distal clavicle treated by hook plate fixation in my hospital fromJune 2008 to August 2011. From 32 patients, 20 patients are male, 12 patientsare female, the age range 18~60 years, with average age was 28.9 years. 26cases caused by falling, 6 cases caused by traffic accident. All patients had acutefractures, 7 patients had right clavicle fractures and 25 patients had left claviclefractures. Based on NEER and Rockwood classifications: 18 cases of typeⅡAand 14 cases of typeⅡB. All patients were suggested to do at least one yearfollow-up, took X-rays of the fractured side, when reached bony union, it isadvisable to remove the plate. Shoulder function and patient satisfaction were assessed using DASH and Constant score.Results:Follow-up time 7~13 months, with average follow up was 9months. All 32 patients’fractures were healed without any complications noted.According to DASH and Constant score, the outcome results showed excellent27 cases, good 4 cases and average 1 case. Conclusions: The clinical outcomes of NEER type 2 distal clavicle fractures inadult treated by clavicle hook plates were satisfied. The fixation was safe andhighly stable. The procedure was simple, early mobilization and faster recoverypostoperatively, the wound was healed completely and no impingementsyndrome, infection or other complications were noted in all patients. Claviclehook plate fixation is an ideal treatment method.
