Shaft generator system is an important part of ship power system, however, for turbine simulator training it is quite complex for simulating. Usually the power plant simulation system of traditional turbine does not include the shaft generator system. This work is based on doing in-depth research on the shaft generator systems,different from the simplified model, it presents a method which describes mathematical model accurately and applies fuzzy PID to control system. Eventually a complete system model is established and applied to the DMS-2012turbine simulator.Compared with the previous literature which simplifies the shaft generator system model,firstly,this work makes a precise mathematical expression for shaft generators, synchronous compensator and excitation controller module; Secondly, fuzzy self-tuning PID control is applied to excitation control linked with the normal work process,while classical PID control to the inverter angle control linked with the transition process in this work.The whole system is simulated in the environment of MATLAB/Simulink, model used here has been proved to be a correct description of real system by changing the working conditions. the system model has been verified to be advanced by contrasting the simulation results of this work with previous literature reports using simplified model for shaft generator system.A simulation interface in line with shaft generator system’s requirements is finished by VC++, and is successfully applied to the DMS-2012turbine simulator. As a result, the new generation turbine simulator is further improved, enhanced in the aspect of fully functional and full mandate.
