With the development of social economy and urbanism in china, the populationand the number of car increase rapidly and lead to heavy traffic demand. Therefore,increasingly obvious contradiction between urban transport demand and supplyexacerbates the situation of difficulty. Traffic jams problem becomes more and moreserious in most china urban. At the same time, energy and environmental problemscaused by those traffic problems seriously affects the healthy and rapid development ofsocio-economic,as well as the normal life of urban residents. The urban transportproblems still need to be solved because of the increasing trend of urban transportmotorized and the development of the automobile industry.Facing such serious urban transport problems, Bus Priority has been one of theeffective ways of alleviating the problems of urban traffic congestion. Especially theresearching of bus priority signal control at intersections, it is an efficient technology torealize Bus priority. Bus priority is not obvious for improving traffic operations,although it is mature. Therefore, this paper will have a research on bus priority signalcoordination control. This paper’s main content research as below:First of all, the paper describes the concept, character and classification of buspriority. It leads out the concept of bus priority signal control, and analyze its character.The paper introduces the control principle and practicality of bus priority signal controlstrategy detailed, then the author analyze characteristics of various detectors, andpropose the travel time prediction model of bus and other vehicles.Secondly, the paper analyzes the different delays of motorcade at the intersection,by the relationship of travel time and phase difference. The author proposes a model ofbus priority signal coordination control on the basis of research on bus priority at singleintersection. In this model, the author takes average delay of people as control objective,and it achieves the target of bus priority signal coordination control, by determiningcycle, green rate and phase difference.Finally, the paper takes one reality urban main road for example to analyze. Wedetect its traffic flow by detector, and then use the Matlab and Vissim software to dosome simulation by the model of bus priority signal coordination control in this paper.The results show that the model in this paper is very useful, and it will be a goodmethod to realize bus priority.
