Research On The Relationship Among Safety Climate, Safety Leadership And Safety Behavior In Construction Industry

As the rapid economic development and the continuous improvement of livingstandards, people pay more attention to the safety issues which are considered the mostessential demand of human being.However, the current safety situation of construction industry appears severe withhigh accidents rate. In recent days, a number of academics notice that most accidentsare caused by people’s unsafe condition, which means that only with the improvementof safety technology could not further better an enterprise’s safety condition. As aresult of this, the researchers begin to think highly of the effect of safety culture andsafety climate and lots of research has indicated that there existed significant effectrelations between safety climate and safety behaviors; thus establishing a good safetyclimate would reduce employees’ unsafe behaviors.This research conducts investigations in safety climate and relevant issues ofconstruction enterprises through empirical analysis, which include discussing theimpact on safety climate by demographic variables, analyzing the relationships amongsafety climate, safety leadership and safety behavior and mediating effect that safetyclimate performs between safety leadership and safety behavior. After the statisticalanalysis utilizing one-way ANOVA, canonical correlation analysis and regressionanalysis, this paper gets the final conclusion as follows:(I) Different groups of employees reflect different degrees of divergence on thedifferent dimensions of safety climate.(II) Perceived safety leadership could predict safety climate and safety behavior.Safety climate could positively predict safety behaviors.(III) Perceived safety climate performs a mediating effect between safetyleadership and safety behavior in construction enterprises.The research thought，method, analysis procedure and measurement results allsupport effective references for scientific study and enterprises’ safety managementpractice.
