The exploitation of mineral resources is the process of understanding, using and transforming the nature. However, the problems of environment pollution are getting more and more serious, the ecological system is increasingly vulnerable, while the development of mineral resources creating economic interests and social values. Human survival and development has been suffered great threat. In recent years, there were many successful stories about landscape restoration of the old mining areas at home and abroad, and accumulated some mature experience, but rarely researched on ecological restoration of the exploiting mining areas. Plants have important ecological functions, play an important and irreplaceable role in improving the urban ecological environment, repairing the ecosystem, and other aspects. Therefore, if you want to restore the ecological environment of the mining area, the recovery of the vegetation is the primary problem.Select coal mine of Jinzhong as the object of research, not only because of its deteriorating ecological environment needs to govern, but more importantly, because it plays an important role in the development of Jinzhong. In this study, first of all, we discussed the current situation of the research at home and abroad and the theoretical basis of ecological restoration. Secondly, based on the spot investigations, we studied ecological restoration of the coal mining area of Jinzhong as follows:(1) Researched the ecological factors which effect the growth of plant, including the topography, hydro meteorology, soil properties, and so on.(2) Surveyed the existing plant species in mining areas, studied the growth state and characteristics of the plants.(3) Investigated the common plants in Jinzhong city, then classified the plants according to the different functions and resistances.(4) Studied the selection and configuration mode of plants in ecological restoration of the coal mining area of Jinzhong.In this study, we obtained conclusions as follows:(1) Plant selection and configuration of office areas.(2) Plant selection and configuration of roads.(3) Plant selection and configuration of river surrounding.(4) Plant selection and configuration of production areas.(5) Plant selection and configuration of living areas.(6) Vegetation recovery mode of gangue areas.In this paper, according to the ecology principle, and combined the status of coal mining area with the ecological habits of the plants, we summed up the best plant species and optimum plant configuration mode for the ecological restoration of different regions in the coal mine area. We hope that this study can provide an important theoretical basis and guidance for planning of plant landscape in coal mine area in the future.
