Land Reclamation Suitability Evaluation

The important resource for human survival is land resource which is the basics of the implement and utilization for production and construction implementation. The destruction of land resources and ecological deterioration is inevitable due to the excavation, construction, temporary occupation.According to relevant statistics, the land reclamation rate of China(less than10%) is far less than the developed countries which the rate is more than50%. It is not reasonable that the land resource is a certain degree of waste because of the construction, although the lot numbers of land resource of China. The job of the land reclamation is imperative to make the damaged land as soon as possible restore to useful status. The land suitability assessment is the foundational work to do a good job for land reclamation.In this paper, the author firstly had been introduced the origin, development and characteristic of land reclamation and land suitability assessment. Secondly, the author had been introduced the basic theories of land reclamation and land suitability assessment including concepts, contents, programs, principles and so on. Thirdly, the author had been introduced the system of the land reclamation and land suitability assessment including, like the assessment basic, method, knowledge system etc.Lastly, a sample based on the construction project of the Yunnan is given to demonstrate the theories of this paper. The sample due to the suitability assessment of the FAO and the technology of GIS (spatial analysis, spatial overlay, attribute query) to determine the evaluation unit, the reclamation direction, engineering technology measures, plant measures and so on.With the development of economy and society, a lots of construction project is having been supported and the destruction of land resources and ecological deterioration is inevitable. So, it is very important to project land, to improve and restore ecological environment, advance socialistic construction etc.
