Research On Shantou Telecom EPON Networking District Solution

The requirements of internet are significantly enhanced with the development of various internet applications. However, the technology of connection between telecommunication and customer's accessing interface falls behind and the"last mile connection"has become a bottleneck of development of communication network. Hence applying fiber instead of coaxial-cable to optimize the current accessing network infrastructure and increase the capability of communication is the key point of China Telecom business development and transformation.The EPON technology which is applied on FTTX networking is the creative accessing technology. It is the combination of Ethernet technology and passive optical network and fixes various problems of current accessing network, such as lack of flexibility and weakly extensibility etc. Most importantly, it enables the transferring of data, video and voice information on the telecommunication network and the integration of"three networks".First and foremost, this article introduces passive optical network, the current status of PON and its standard the development of EPON, history of EPON and its theory and technology. Further more, it analyzes the model of EPON technology which is applied on customers'accessing interface. Last of all, it assesses various application of EPON in different Scenarios and some hot issues of current EPON technologyThis essay focuses on a case study of JingYue Resident Community. According to the current status of JingYue Resident Community, it provides a new solution with EPON. Moreover, it indicates the accessing network with EPON in detail, the date setting and business operation by ONU and OLT in the processing of network construction. Finally, this article summaries some experiences and provides some solutions which fix some specific problems during the network construction.Fiber access network is the trend of access network. Current days, with the development of EPON technology, the cost of applying EPON is significant reduced and its functionality is optimized. The Fiber access technology will be applied widely with the extending of broadband business.
