Applying bibliometrics method and word frequency statistical software, this article makes a statistical analysis about more than 1600 articles published in Social Security Forum of mainland of China from 2006 to 2008. The purposes are in order to analyse the present situation and examine the achievements previously of our study of social security in mainland of China using the empirical methods and computer technology.This article ascertains some hotspots of social security from three areas like "research topics", "researchers" and "the citation" and then think over its development according to various kinds of hidden disciplines from the literaturen.First of all, the conclusions from the "research topics" shows:in recent years, social security research in mainland of China focused on the concrete content of security, the object of security and operation management of the system. In the mean time, some problems about "harmonious society " also are the hotspots.From the result of the "reseachers", the level of the coauthor is a little high, the coauthor rate shows an increasing trend year after year in a general way, most of the authors are from the governments and instiutions for higher leraning, but the latter is still the main source place of the literature.Finally, the "citation" part shows that:in the area of social security in mainland of China, "the Matthew effect" exsits amony the researchers seriously and superior core author group hasn't formed. The researchers'study is still stop in the single-stage. Simultaneously, some policy documents of government departments are quoted frequently. All above shows that the study about social security subject is not prospective, the government-led is the important factor restricting the study.
