The router based on ForCES (Forwarding and Control Elements Separation) architecture could satisfy the requirements of openness, scalability and programmability for the next generation routers. But with the continuous increasing of Internet traffic and scale, both traditional OSPF protocol and ForCES-based router with centralized control plane have encountered certain bottlenecks in performance. Therefore, this thesis mainly studied OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) technologies on the basis of the framework of ForCES router, including:OSPF routing mechanism between Forwarding Elements and its optimization schemes, and implementation technology of distributed OSPF. OSPF routing optimization schemes consist of two aspects:one is the weight management under ECMP rules, and the other is the combination of the shortest path and the non-shortest path. This thesis firstly described some issues related with OSPF protocol, secondly proposed two ForCES-oriented OSPF routing optimization schemes and the corresponding mathematical models, also do some numerical experiments and results analysis. Thirdly, completing the implementation of distributed OSPF based on ForCES architecture after analyzing the OSPF protocol module of Zebra. Our work laid a certain foundation for the research of ForCES network components'internal routing mechanism and ForCES-oriented distributed routing protocol.
