In IC design, verification accounts for 70% of all design work. Functional verification is an important one in various forms of verification. Rapid and effective establishment of functional verification platform is a very important research topic in IC design.Based on the project of a multimedia SoC chip design, this paper mainly describe the functional verification platform for GPU—one of the subsystems, and finally realizes the platform on FPGA. The paper analyzes the basic concept and technical features of functional verification, introduces the structure and dataflow of GPU. The paper makes a plan for functional verification of GPU, describes the components of the functional verification platform, including DDR interface solution, bus converter module and bus function model.The paper finally realizes the functional verification platform using RTL simulation and FPGA. The paper achieves the functional verification of GPU based on the co-working of RTL simulation and FPGA hardware simulation which makes up the shortcoming of the two methods (slow speed for RTL simulation, uneasy to control and observe for FPGA simulation).
