With the information technology greatly impact on human life and commercial activities,information services for businesses and individuals become increasingly dependent.Nowadays, people need to get and store their data or information anytime anywhere. However,the loss of sensitive information in key industries will bring a really serious consequence.How to ensure the information infrastructure can work all day long, high reliability anduninterrupted delivery service, that's a practical issue which is placed in the global telecomoperators and Internet service providers. In order to reduce the risk of shutdown or breakdown,high availability cluster technology is a cheap and efficient way which has a broad applicationprospects.The main task of this dissertation is to discuss how the multi-servers cluster system canachieve high availability, uninterrupted service requirements.Firstly, we introduce the basic overview of the cluster system and the high availabilitycluster system, and then we discuss the high availability state machine. After finish that weintroduce using Markov model to analyze the availability of the n node cluster system, andfigure out its quantitative relationship.Considering the ATCA platform multi-servers cluster hardware architecture, we designnew cluster software architecture to achieve this N+1 high availability cluster system.Consequently, we talk about the every part of the software module and the design detail inthis software architecture. After that we focus on implement this software's function. Basedon the single node server, we consider how these high availability processes work togetherand repair the breakdown to achieve the requirement of high availability.Finally, we formulate some test cases in order to test whether this N+1 high availabilitycluster software's function is okay and also collect some test data. Using the Markov modelquantitative relationship we had mentioned , we can verify whether this N+1 high availabilitysoftware architecture design meet the high availability demand.
