As the fully development of image processing, communication and embedded technology today, embedded video surveillance has been applied to people's lives,industry and other fields. As the developing of wireless network technology, it has a higher data rate, longer distances, and become more reliable, more stable in wireless conmmunication. This makes it possible that using a wireless network for video transmission. The wireless video surveillance has some advantages as low cost, flexible networking, highly scalability; its application is very promising.The wireless LAN (WLAN) is the best platform for wireless video transmission among numbers of wireless communication technology today. This paper describes an wireless network image transmission system which combing the wireless LAN and embedded technology. This system completes the image data acquisition, transmission and display. In order to more efficient use of limited bandwidth, the image data is compressed by using the JPEG standard before sending to the wireless network. The system uses AX22001 as the main controller with 802.11 WLAN baseband/MAC; it can send and receive data through an external AL2230S RF chip. The image acquisition uses an ICX405AK board. It becomes YUV image signal through a SAA7111video decoder chip.These data is compressed by ZR36060. AX22001 control SAA7111 through the I2C bus and control or read image data from the ZR36060 through the local bus.In this paper, we gave the system overall composition first. The we introduced the hardware and software design of the system. The hardware includes the characteristics, workflow of each chip and the circuit connection among these chips. The software includes the configuration of each chip, the communication program and PC software. Finally, we describe the testing method of each part and analyed the performance of our system.
