BPEL-Based Healthcare Information Exchange System

Healthcare subsystem is the problem that must be solved in healthcare information industry. The management of healthcare process is necessary for development of healthcare information system. The two questions constitute one of the most important research directions: healthcare information exchange system.This paper analyzes integration technology of the healthcare field, points out their advantages and disadvantages, and presents a novel solution for healthcare exchange system which based on service composition. It bases on service-oriented architecture. All the features of the healthcare information system are expressed as a number of relatively independent services. Service module is implemented by the web services technology, then healthcare subsystem integration be converted to a service integration issue. Web services are relatively easy to integrate. Then the concept of service composition is added to the solution. Business process executes in accordance with pre-defined logical rules. It can automatically dispatch task to appropriate application. Healthcare process is managed by service composition engine. Application is separated from healthcare process. BPEL is widely used in service composition. In this paper, BPEL is used as the language of service composition.In order to realize the solution of healthcare information exchange system. This paper presents a method to model healthcare process which based on IHE (Integration Healthcare Enterprise) integration framework. The method simplifies the analysis of healthcare process. Based on above solution, a radiology information system is designed and implemented. The result shows the effectiveness and correctness of the solution. It provides a solution for healthcare exchange system.
