We all know, the mainstream in the field of broadband access technologies and applications are DSL technologies, including ADSL, ADSL2+, VDSL, VDSL2, etc., but the existing copper-based DSL technology, not enough to meet the growing communication needs, in the face of new emerging businesses and the construction of the pressure of maintenance costs, the trend of light into the back of copper has become the consensus of the major telecom operators. Traditional voice-based broadband-based business operators are changing to an integrated information service provider, foster new business growth to meet the diverse needs of customers, data, video and other broadband multimedia services are the rapid development of broadband networks will be proposed higher demand. At the same time, countries and governments are also actively developing policies to make our great country to communication by the communication power, FTTx strategic objectives proposed in the 10 years 2008-2017, so that users in China reached 61.9 million FTTx households. Thus, optical fiber access network will become the next few years, the mainstream of broadband access network development.At present, fiber access market, EPON technology, with its mature technology and industrial chain advantage, has been recognized by major operators, through enterprise standards to improve the level has reached a commercial scale. Major telecommunications operators are seeking to build their own EPON networks to look forward to providing high-speed, high-quality broadband network and a variety of new business applications. This EPON networks and in-depth study on the basis of relevant agreements, the implementation of the ongoing construction of Beijing Unicom EPON network implementation and project acceptance program, ideas proposed EPON network construction and related recommendations.
