The Study On Burden And Influencing Factors Among Family Primary Caregivers Of Cerebral Palsy Children

ObjectivesThe study measured the reliability and validity of Chinese version Zaritcaregivers burden interview(ZBI) once again, investigated the burden on familyprimary caregivers of cerebral palsy children, analyzed the factors associated with it,and found the effective ways of elevating the burden, to provide scientific evidencefor caring out comprehensive intervention.MethodsIt is a survey research,160family primary caregivers of cerebral palsy childrenfrom the fourth hospital affiliated nanchang university and Jiang Xi children'shospital were interviewed using questionnaires including Zarit Caregiver BurdenInterview (ZBI), Family Burden Scale of Diseases (FBS), caregiver Social SupportRating Scale (SSRS), Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ) andself-designed general information questionnaire for patients and caregivers. Colleteddate was input and analyzed by SPSS17.0statistical package.Results1.Using Chinese version of ZBI to family primary caregivers of cerebral palsychildren,the Cronbach'S Alpha coefficient of the overall items was0.819,thedimension and subordinate dimension of coefficient are larger than other dimensionsof correlation coefficient with Spearman related analysis.2.In160family primary caregivers of cerebral palsy children,the mean age is(33.51±11.14) years,92.5%of them were women.3.The scores of them ranged from13~67,the mean score was (40.92±10.61)scores,to assume middle burden;6caregivers (3.8%) with no care burden,58cases(36.2%) with light burden,88cases (55.0%) with medium burden, and8cases (5.0%)with heavy burden.4.Statistically significant relations were found between the following conditionfactors and family caregiver burden (P＜0.05):the degree of children'sparalysis,participate in the number of caregivers,ratio of medical treatment feeincome of households,each dimension of the family burden, social support and coping style.5.Multiple regression analysis showed that the main influencing factorsincluding the degree of children's paralysis,ratio of medical treatment fee income ofhouseholds,social support,family financial burdens,family members mental health,family leisure entertainment activities and family relations,it account for56.5%of theburden of family primary care of variation.Conclusions1.In this study,the Chinese version of ZBI has good reliability andvalidity,,which has some practical and widespread value to family primary caregiversof cerebral palsy children.2.Children with cerebral palsy family caregivers mainly affected in general,andmainly is parents under a different level of burden.The levels have affected by thedegree of children's paralysis, ratio of medical treatment fee income ofhouseholds,social support and family burdens.3.Society should take care of the caregivers group of children with cerebral palsyto positive attention.
