Xuefuzhuyu Decoction Union Xitaipulan Clinical Study In Post Stroke Depression

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of the Xuefuzhuyu decoction united citalopram in the treatment of depression after ischemic stroke,in order to provide a theoretical basis for treating depression after ischemic stroke with Xuefuzhuyu decoction.Method:64 cases were chosen in line with the diagnose of depression after ischemic stroke from Wuhan City Western and Chinese hospital outpatient and inpatient neurology department during the September 2009 to September 2010.They were randomly divided into treatment and control group which both had 32 cases. Two groups were given conventional treatment on ischemic stroke, the treatment group taking Xuefuzhuyu decoction united citalopram hydrobromide tablets and psychological counseling, while the control group taking citalopram hydrobromide tablets and psychological counseling only. The treatment of both groups lasted 8 weeks. Before and after treatment to stroke clinical neurological deficit scores, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HRSD) score, activities of daily living scale (ADL) score and Spitzer quality of life index scale (QLI) scores observed by comparing Before and after the score to observe the improvement in depressive symptoms, the degree of neurological deficit and restore the quality of life change the situation.Results:1. After 8 weeks, clinical efficacy on depression,bothgroups had an effective improvement on the patientsclinical symptoms (P<0.05), the totel efficiency of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05).2. After 4 weeks, HRSD scores of the two groups were significantly improved compared with before treatment (P<0.01), but the difference between treatment group and control group has no statistical significance (P>0.05); After 8 weeks, HRSD scores of the two group compared with before treatment were significantly improved,(P<0.01),were effective, and the treatment and control groups was statistical significance (P <0.05), which showed that the treatment group improved symptoms of depression Results are obvious than the control group3. After 8 weeks, according.to the clinical efficacy of improve nerve function, both of the two groups can effectively improve neurological function of patients (P<0.05), the efficiency of the treatment group was significantly higher (P<0.05).4. After 8 weeks, the neurological deficit scores were significantly improved of the two groups compared with before treatment,(P<0.01)there was statistically significant difference between treatment and control groups (P<0.05), which showed that the treatment group has an obvious improvement on neurological deficit than the control group results.5. After 8 weeks, the two groups before treatment, compared with the ADL scores were significantly improved (P<0.01), treatment and control groups was statistically significant difference between (P<0.05), that the treatment group than in the control Group improved activities of daily living in patients with significant effect.6. After 8 weeks, the two groups before treatment, compared with the QLI scores were significantly improved (P<0.01), treatment and control groups was statistically significant difference between (P<0.05), that the treatment group than in the control Groups to improve quality of life index effect is remarkable.ConclusionBased on the the application of Western medicine Citalopram, united Xuefuzhuyu decoction and psychological counseling to treat depression after ischemic stroke have a definite clinical effect. It not only can improve depression symptoms, and promote recovery of neurological function in patients, But also improve the quality of life in stroke patients, and no adverse reaction in clinical ischemic stroke depression Integrative Medicine to develop a new way of thinking.
