| Objective: This study was designed to examine the expression of TGF-β1 and E-cadherin in Hepatocellular Carcinoma and adjacent tissues. Our aim was to investigate the realationship between the expression of TGF-β1, E-cadherin and the clinicopathologic parameters of Hepatocellular Carcinoma. Methods: 45 cases of HCC specimens and 30 cases of adjacent samples were obteined from Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College. They were resected surgically from May 2009 to October 2009. The expression of TGF-β1 and E-cadherin was dectected by the SABC technique of immunohistochemical staining. Finally the relationship between their expression and clinical pathologic parameters was analyzed. Results: Compared with the adjacent tissues, TGF-β1 was highly expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and the expression of E-cadherin in hepatocellular carcinoma was low(P<0.05). The high expression of TGF-β1 and the loss of E-cadherin were related to the HCC Edmondson grade, cancerous thrombosis and the complete of involucrum(P<0.05).The TGF-β1 and E-cadherin expression in hepatocellular carcinoma was significantly negatively correlated(r= - 0.576, P<0.05). .Conclusions: The overexpression of TGF-β1 may contribute to the loss of E-cadherin expression in hepatocellular carcinoma and both expression may related to the invasion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma. |
