Objective To study the expression and clinical significance of CREB mRNA in acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromesMethods Real-time quantitative PCR was performed to detect CREB mRNA expression in peripheral blood from 12 cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), 13 cases of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), as well as 9 cases of Non-hematologic malignancies as the controls. Results the expression levels of CREB among the three groups were statistically different(p<0.05);The expression levels of CREB mRNA in AML patients were 4.390±1.840,those in MDS patients were 1.423±0.425,Both the AML and MDS groups exhibited signifcantly higher CREB expression levels than control group (P= 0.00 and P= 0.01,respectively), the expression levels of CREB mRNA among the three groups showed an increasing trend. Conclusions CREB can act as a complementary indicator to judge condition and identify myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia. The mechanism of CREB exhibited higher expression in AML and MDS is required further study.
