ObjectiveTo investigate the different changes of ductus venosus parameters in the two groups of hydrops fetails: fetuses with homozygousα-thalassemia and fetuses with heart disease.MethodsSixty-nine cases of hydropic fetuses were recruited in our hospital from July 2008 to December 2010. They were divided into two groups(with cardiogenic anomalies and with homozygousα-thalassemia). Fetal ductus venosus (DV) blood flow was measured.ResultsIn cardiogenic group, most fetuses have low velocitiy of S wave, high PVIV,DVPI DVRI and absent or reversed a wave. Most homozygousα-thalassemia fetuses have high velocitiy of S wave and a wave, low PVIV,DVPI DVRI. The difference was significant in the DV of two groups (P<0.01). ConclusionWe found different changes in the DV Doppler of two groups (p<0.01) . It's important to check and measure DV parameters, which can effectively distinguish the causes of hydrops fetails and instruct the clinical treatment.
