Objective: With the changes in the medical model and social demanding for medical professionals, in the education of medical colleges, the students training by current training model, exposed many shortcomings. The research purpose was to study the law of development of clinical thinking on medical students. Methods: From the side of diagnosis of the traditional chinese medicine, based on the study of knowledge and skills of the traditional chinese medicine, investigate and analysis students'basic knowledge of diagnostic and diagnostic ability, and explore the law of development of students'thinking ability in medical. Results: From a statistical sense, there were no differences in the basic knowledge of diagnosis of all grades students in school; in diagnostic capability, there were no differences in two grades in school; clinical students was better than in school; the relation of students'basic knowledge and diagnostic ability is not high; The development trend of clinical thinking ability of students was "s" type. Conclusion: the situation that students learning traditional chinese medicine master the basics of the clinical diagnosis does not have a decisive role in capacity; the development of clinical thinking ability of students first slow, then fast, then stabilized development. Thinking ability of students was improved primarily in the practice continues. The key of improving the early development of clinical thinking ability of students is to arrangement thinking training when students learning theoretical knowledge in school.
