ObjectiveTo explore status of smoking and influence of smoking and other factors on serum lipids among residents in Qingdao.MethodsIn 2006,5474 persons in rural and urban area of Qingdao were investigated. The data about smoking and serum lipids were collected and analyzed with multiple stepwise regressions.ResultsIn 5 474 residents, smoking rate was 24.22% and the smoking rates were 49.10% and 8.55% respectively in males and females (P<0.05).Smoking rates were 23.68%, 25.85%,24.07%,21.70%,20.00%,respectively in 35-44 age group,45-54 age group,55-64 age group,65-74 age group and above 75 age group (P>0.05).TG of people with high fasting blood-glucose, overweight, fat, smoking over 10 cigarettes per day was high. TG of female was low. TC of people who were old, with high fasting blood-glucose, overweight, fat, smoking over 30 cigarettes per day was high. LDL-C of people who were old, with high fasting blood-glucose, overweight, fat was high. LDL-C of people with smoking 10-19 cigarettes per day was low. HDL-C of people who were female, old and with light weight was high. HDL-C of people with high fasting blood-glucose, overweight, fat was low.ConclusionSmoking rate of rural and urban residents of Qingdao was low. Influence factors of lipid level include sex, age, fasting blood-glucose, overweight, fat and cigarette smoking.
