BackgroundDepression is an common mental health problem. The world health organization research shows that:depression will become the world's second largest burden of disease by 2020. It has now accepted that depression was due to genetic, psychological and social environment by many factors such as the result of joint action, occupational stress related factor was one of the important factors that cause depression.Serotonin (5-HT) is a kind of important monoamine neural transmitter in the body. Serotonin transporter promoter regional polymorphism (5-HTTLPR) and serotonin 2A receptor (5-HT2AR) T102C polymorphism, A-1438G polymorphism had a close relationship with depression and occupational stress. So we choose the three polymorphism as the object and to discuss the relationship of genotypes, stress and depressive symptoms.MethodsTo measure depression symptom occupational stressors, personalities, occupatio-nal strain, and buffering factors by Depression symptom questionnaire and Occupational Stress Measure Instrument.Using the polymerase chain reaction a restriction fragment length polymorphism technology (PCR-RFLP)determination of 497 workers 5-HTTLPR,5-HT2ART102C and 5-HT 2ARA-1438G site genotypes. To use Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium test, one-way anova,chi-square test,t-test, univariate and multivariate logistic regression of SPSS 13.0 (a=0.05).Results 1 To compare the scores of the factors related to occupational stressor, in two groups, t tests showed that the scores of role stress, job prospects ambiguity, extrinsic effort, intrinsic effort, daily life stress had an significant differences in the two groups (P< 0.05), and the scores was higher in group with depressive symptoms than the group with no depressive symptoms; the scores of job stationary, decision latitude, job promotion, reward, job satisfaction, affection balance, mental health, supervisor support, coworker support had an significant differences in the two groups (P< 0.05), but the scores was lower in group with depressive symptoms than the group with no depressive symptoms.2 The results of multiple logistic regression analysis on risk factors of depressive symptoms showed that daily life stress (OR=2.352)was the risk factor of the depressive symptoms, but affection balance(OR=0.320) and mental health (OR=0.057) were the protect factors.3 To compare scores and positie rate of depression symptoms in two grous, results showed that scores and positie rate of depression symptoms in two groups of role stress, job prospects ambiguity, job promotion, decision latitude, extrinsic effort, intrinsic effort, reward, job satisfaction, daily life stress, affection balance, mental health, self esteem, locus of control, cope strategy, supervisor support, coworker support had an significant differencesP< 0.05).4 The relationship between 5-HT system gene polymorphism and the genetic predisposition of depressie symptoms, x2 test results showed that the genotype of 5-HT2ARA-1438G in two groups had an significant differences(x2=6.049, P= 0.049).5 The interaction of the factors related to occupational stress and serotonin 2A receptor, transporter gene on depression symptoms:the results of multiple logistic regression analysis and fork born analysis showed that,5-HT2ART102C and job satisfaction(SI=0.326), decision-making(SI=0.335), external effort(SI=0.246) had a negative interaction on depressive symptoms.5 HT2ARA-1438G and internal effort (SI=0.297)had a negative interaction on depressive symptoms. Conclusion Some factors related to occupational stress and 5-HT2ARA-1438G gene polymorphism were associated with depressive symptoms,5-HT2ART102C gene polymorphism and job satisfaction, decision-making, external effort, A-1438G gene polymorphism and job satisfaction had a negative interaction on the depression symptom.
