| Objective:The aim of this study was to analyze the soft tissue profile changes in the treatment of classâ…¢malocclusion by means of Twin-block appliance and Frankel-â…¢appliance and to evaluate the curative effects of the two appliances. It is especially useful for clinnicians to provides the theory basis for the effective treatment of classâ…¢malocclusion.Method:Thirty cases of Angle classâ…¢Malocclusion in mixed dentition andearly skeketal mature dentition,16 males and 14 females, were selected. Aged seven years old to half past thirty years old. Among them,15 subjects were randomly selected for treatment with reverse Twin-block and 15 subjects for Frankel-â…¢. Lateral cephalometric radiograph taken before and after the treatments were analyzed. The data were analyzed by paired t tests with SPSS 17.0 software package.Results:â‘ After all the patients were treated with reverse Twin-block appliances, S-Ns-Si,LL-EP and S-Ns-Pos decreased, Sn-Ns-S and Ns-Sn-Pos increased.they were all highly significant (P<0.01). Sn-Me, Ns-Me, LL-EP increased, they were all significant (P<0.05).â‘¡After all the patients were treated with Frankel-â…¢appliance. Sn-Ns-Si, Ns-Sn-Pos, LiSi-Sn increased, S-Ns-Si, S-Ns-Pos, LL-EP decreased, they were all highly significant (P<0.01). S-Ns-Sn, LsSn-Sn, Sn-Me, Ns-Me, UL-EP increased, they were all significant (P<0.05).â‘¢After the comparison of the two groups, S-Ns-Sn, Sn-Ns-Si and ULSn-Sn increased, they were significant.â‘£The average treatment time of the two groups was highly significant (P<0.01).Conclusion:â‘ The soft tissue profiles of patients with Classâ…¢were effectively improved after treatment with reverse Twin-block appliance or Frankel-â…¢appliance.â‘¡The effect of mandibular soft tissue changes is very obvious by reverse Twin-block treatment. The maxillary and mandibular soft tissue changes could be achieved in Frankel-â…¢group.â‘¢The period is significantly shorter in reverse Twin-block group than Frankel-â…¢group. |
